Murchison's Vertical Team
When thinking of teaming, people most often think of horizontal teams within a school. At Murchison, each grade level has grade level teams. However, we are also part of a vertical team, which reaches beyond the school walls to promote teamwork among elementary, middle, and high school educators. At Murchison, we are fortunate to have both in-school teams and to belong to the Anderson HS Vertical Team.
Our Vertical Team consists of Anderson HS, Murchison MS, Davis Elementary, Doss Elementary, Hill Elementary and Summitt Elementary.
(Some students from Pillow Elementary attend Anderson HS also, though officially Pillow is part of the Lanier HS Vertical Team.)
Our Vertical Team exists for many reasons, all of which benefit our students. The principals, PTA presidents, and ACPTA representatives from each school meet quarterly to discuss issues, share ideas, brainstorm solutions, and coordinate curriculum. Meetings are run by a representative of the Austin Council of PTAs.
The Vertical Team members also help students navigate the transitions between elementary, middle, and high school from an emotional and academic standpoint.
