Murchison Students -  Please consider participating in this year's Reflections Literature and Fine Arts competition, entry deadline is Oct 28th.  

As a part of the National PTA organization, Murchison Middle School PTA is accepting student entries for the annual Reflections Program.   The Reflections Program is a judged competition of original student art in six categories:  Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Musical Composition, Photography, and Visual Arts.  The following PTA website link has complete instructions and forms:  http://www.txpta.org/programs/reflections/  (scroll down to section "Student Forms" for general rules, category rules, and Student Entry Forms).

Entries will be judged based on the following criteria:  interpretation of theme, artistic merit/creativity, and mastery of medium.  Based on the results of the judging, entries in each category may advance to Austin Area, Texas State, and National level competitions.  

The student deadline for all Murchison 2010-2011 Reflections Program entries is Thurs, Oct 28, 2010.  Entries in ANY category will be submitted to the student's Language Arts Teacher.

Student FAQ

When do I need to submit my entry?
Students must submit their entries no later than Thurs, Oct 28th. 

Where do I submit my entry?
Students must submit entries in any category to their Language Arts teachers.

When will I know the results of the judging?
Results of local MMS judging will be available in January 2011, and Area/State/National judging results may not be available until later in the year.  MMS PTA Reflections Chair will send out information via email updates and will also contact all participants moving on to the next level of competition as results become available.

Will my art be returned?
The only entries to be returned to the student will be Photography and Visual Arts entries, and these may not be returned until final National judging is completed.  All other entries should be copied by the student prior to submittal since they will not be returned.

This website link provides general program rules, category specific rules, and student entry forms (scroll down to “Student Forms” section).   Please read and follow the rules carefully to ensure that all entries are submitted correctly.  

Each Reflections Program entry must be accompanied by a completed Student Entry Form.  Additionally, entries must include a parent/guardian Consent Form for any minor (under age 18) other than the author appearing in the art.
