PTA Sponsor-A-Book
Help grow our library collection through the PTA Sponsor-A-Book donation.
You can donate a book ANYTIME to the library. Click here to print out a Sponsor-A-Book donation form. All books purchased with these donations become part of the MMS Library, available to ALL students. Kids need access to lots of good books to do well academically. Please consider helping us out to improve our school library collection!
We will get your monetary donation to Mrs. Cochran, the MMS Librarian, and she will dedicate a new book to the school library in your child's honor or in memory of someone else, and a bookplate will be placed in the dedicated book. Your child's name will be listed as a donor to the library in a Matador Newsletter during the school year.
Please email Tina Sutton with any questions or to participate.

A Visit from Author Pamela Ferguson
September 14, 2010 by Stormy Blundell
To the delight of 6th, 7th and 8th graders alike, local author Pamela Ferguson flapped her arms wildly and pretended to shield herself from bird droppings during her lively reading from her first book written for children, Sunshine Picklelime: a story of life, laughter, and lemonade. Many students attended the book-signing event during their lunch periods on Wednesday.
Several students asked questions that most aspiring writers wonder, like where do you start? Ms. Ferguson suggested that you begin writing by focusing on one idea, one character, and one theme. Do your best to research that one idea and develop that one character. In Pamela’s case, a character with a strong identity can take over and the book practically writes itself. Ms. Ferguson also suggested that when you have an idea, just start writing and don’t worry about spelling and grammar. Those things can be corrected later.
If you’ve already done some writing but have not completed those stories, don’t feel that your unfinished work is wasted. Pamela advised that you print what you have, put your work in a notebook, and come back to those stories when you’re not forcing it. Something may inspire you later. Speaking of which, Ms. Ferguson believes that inspiring others to write is the greatest gift that authors can give to their readers. Giving us her time and sharing her love of writing with us on Wednesday was also an especially nice gift from Pamela.
