
Campus Advisory Council (CAC)
CAC is Campus Advisory Council – the CAC is a board of advisors to Ms. Cartwright and includes staff, teachers, community members, and parents. Our task is to provide valuable input to the administration, who ultimately have decision making responsibility for MMS. Purpose
- Involving citizens in a meaningful way in important decisions and problems confronting their school and school system.
- Assisting the school in implementing and managing the local budget and allocated revenues.
- Implementing the District's curriculum.
- Determining the campus staff development plan.
- Establishing how staff allocated to the campus will be used in compliance with the standards of service and organizing the school.
- Promoting better communication and understanding between the community and the school.
- Proposing plans of action to build citizen support upon which the education of students depends.
- Being visible in the community.
Objectives
- Assess school programs and services.
- Establish goals to improve programs and services
- Establish and approve the Campus Improvement Plan (CIP) which must include the staff development plan.
- Evaluate student progress.
- Inform community on progress.
- Review and provide input on the school budget including use of federal dollars.
- Recommend solutions to school concerns.
- Communicate meetings, agenda and issues to the community.

Term of Membership
- Two years with half rotating off each year. Advisory Year, April 15-June 30 of the following year.
- Professional staff are elected by the campus staff and must be 2/3 classroom teachers.
- Parents are selected by PTA/PTO/Principal/CAC.
Meetings
- No less than nine times a school year.
Officers
- Co-chairpersons serve as a team. One is a permanent employee of the school system. One is not.
- Co-chairs shall have served at least one year on the CAC before becoming elected to office.
Election of Officers
- Election of officers by April 30
Distribution of Minutes
- Area Superintendent assigned to support local school.
- CAC members.
- DAC representatives.
- Each school makes available a copy of CAC and DAC minutes in a notebook at the school's front desk.
Expectations
- Attend all meetings.
- Host one community meeting annually to review progress and report to the parents and community how the campus performed on the state accountability system (TEC Sec. 11.253)
- Attend annual mandatory training.
- Support the decisions of the team and educate the school community about the progress of the school and the efforts of the CAC.
